The unbearable finiteness of being

i have this monstrous urge to find an old friend on facebook. any friend. i really want to find someone i haven't been in touch with for ten, fifteen, twenty years. heck, i don't even mind finding them on orkut -- it's that bad.

but unfortunately i think i've run out of long-lost people. all taken and accounted for.

i think i'll start a social network for imaginary friends.

or even better, one for people who meet exclusively on blog networks,
given that facebook and orkut have pretty much cornered the market for old friends and nostalgia?

and hullo - been here for a while now, but never really commented!

Long-lost friends are long-lost for a good reason, TR ;)

Though the social network for imaginary friends is a splendid idea. I wouldn't mind joining that network.

szerelem:

I am the Great Google Stalker. I've googled everyone I know - and I'm talking Aunty Olga's-nephew-from-Australia-who-I-once-met-at-a-party-in-1983 kind of everyone I know. I've LinkedIn people and LinkedIn their connections and THEIR connections and so on till I no longer remmber who's profile I'm looking at. I've facebookstalked bitter enemies because I ran out of friends and acquaintances and Aunty Olga nephews to facebookstalk. I have no shame. And I know EVERYONE. The few people I am not connected to in some tenuous way, like Hillary Clinton or Bono are not worth bothering about.

The imaginary friends idea I totally support.

You can have my long lost folks too man, there's a few all over the place. I prefer random email remembrances to the ones facebook/orkut incites.
