Tal

A new bassist on the scene = cause for celebration. When that bassist stands up on stage and matches Jeff Beck "blow by blow", that's cause for serious celebration. When that bassist is a 21 year old girl, that's cause for serious double-takes. Introducing Tal Wilkenfeld, folks, playing A Day In The Life (yes, that one) in the clip above, and a couple more excellent tracks from the Crossroads Guitar festival from last November.

Her tone reminds me of Jaco. I hope she gets as good as Kai.

And speaking of Kai.... how many brains does he have? (Yes, that's Johnny Mac he's playing with, back when he too was 21, almost.) I can't get enough of him.

I'm looking forward to feeling the same way about Tal.

I had linked to this a few months ago. Did you see the concert DVD? Some very interesting stuff on it.

And the girl is *awesome*. Though I still don't know how she manages to play the bass like that with her tiny frame.

//It was *great* seeing Jeff Beck graciously sharing the spotlight with a 21-year old. There's a class act.

A friend of mine attended the show. He says watching the DVD was better than actually being there :)) Go figure.

actually, not surprising. even while i was watching, i was thinking that the venue was a ridiculous tiered oblong shape, and way too big. if you were on the sides you'd have to look at an angle to even see the big screen, and if you were straight on you were probably too far back. heck give me jones beach any day.

And *outrageous* ticket prices, I am told.

yes, that's another thing that occurred to me. at a do like this, you're probably paying for the menu, not the service.
